KATRINA WOOLVERTON

2015 BIOGRAPHY

Blessed with a multi-octave range (5 ½!) and a musical intelligence that informs every musical gesture, singer-songwriter Katrina Woolverton is primed in 2015 for even greater horizons!  Buoyed by her memorable 2012 debut, the acclaimed In The Blink Of An Eye, the album featured Billboard charting hits “Shame On Me” and “So Eden,” among other songs (she released the stand-alone 2013 gem “Ready To Love” that also climbed the Billboard charts).

Katrina’s accomplished vocal style also scored her coveted support including over 1000 spins on SiriusXM’s contemporary music channels. The hard-working artist has toured across the US with legendary icon Meat Loaf (as well as hosting her own live treks in the U.S. and UK), opening for the veteran rocker on his 2012 Mad Mad World Tour.

Katrina’s show-stopping live prowess also inspired her to recently record an acoustic version of “Shame On Me” while working in London on her sophomore album.   The impromptu recording of “Shame”  http://www.katrinawoolverton.com/shame-on-me-acoustic  was prompted by fan response to a stripped-down version of the hit she performs to regular ovations throughout the country.

Multiple writing/production collaborations on her next album, to be titled Long Time Coming, give ample notice that the savvy Woolverton is bringing redefinition to the power-singer repertoire, her emotionally charged palette braced by catchy and cathartic lyrical renderings that move body and soul.  Katrina has enlisted a diverse roster of kindred musical spirits, capturing a now-is-the-moment embroidery that reflects both her swag and seamless musical craftsmanship;  Collaborators include Amy Wadge (worked with Ed Sheeran and others), Wendy Starland  (worked with Lady Gaga, Moby, Snoop Dogg and others), New Zealand producer/artist Gladius, Felix Howard (Amy Winehouse), Zoe Devlin, and numerous others.

Long Time Coming looms as a big-picture starburst of affection from a singer in full realization of her gift; A stunning musical conjuration delivered in a range as big as her heart.  The effusive vocalist  recently finished recording the new album in London; an inspiring mixture of illuminating dance power pop, electro-tinged R&B, searing love songs and one-of-a-kind musical devotions showcasing the singer’s commanding vocal presence and notable songwriting chops.  The first single from the album entitled “Heatwave” will be released August 7, 2015.

Recognized early on as a unique and formidable talent, she made her initial music “debut” on the popular TV show Star Search, the precursor to today’s singing competition series’, and the platform that helped launch Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Usher and Justin Timberlake, among other stars. The young Katrina emerged victorious in multiple consecutive weeks, (including against a young lady who would later become known as the artist Aaliyah) garnering attention (and offers) from record companies and other industry tastemakers.

Family upheaval would dictate unforeseen challenges and a switch in life-paths for the young Katrina. The determined singer would decide to ‘table’ her singing aspirations for a while and pursue both a college and law degree – but she never stopped nurturing her musical destiny.  Continuing to perform in school choirs and other platforms where she was afforded the opportunity (and writing songs in every spare moment available), the dedicated Los Angeles native always promised herself she would fulfill the potential of her tremendous singing gift.

Inspired after attending a Cher concert (even after receiving her Juris Doctor and Masters in Entertainment and Media Law), she made the decision to fully recalibrate her musical course a few years ago, eventually assembling a stellar team of songwriters and collaborators to create what would become her acclaimed debut venture, In The Blink Of An Eye.

Now, poised to release what many insiders are calling her defining musical vision, Long Time Coming is destined to be the hallmark offering from an artist whose time has truly arrived.
