RENOWNED VISUAL ARTIST SQUINDO TO CREATE
LYRIC VIDEO FOR NEW SONG “HEATWAVE” BY
SINGER-SONGWRITER KATRINA WOOLVERTON
(August 1, 2015: New York, NY) – As singer/songwriter Katrina Woolverton puts the finishing touches on her sophomore album Long Time Coming, scheduled for release in 2016, the enterprising artist is working with one of the most dynamic contemporary music culture visual artists, SQUINDO, to create the lyric video for the album’s first single, entitled “Heatwave.” The sizzling track with intricately-crafted lyric video is set to be unveiled on August 21, 2015
SQUINDO – who has created artwork and merchandising product for multiple music stars including Metallica, Pink, the Ramones, Green Day, Korn, and others (as well as designing merchandise for noted skate board, skiing, tattoo, and custom car clients) is busy putting the finishing touches to the scrupulously, hand-drawn work, which also incorporates water color and stop-motion animation, among other techniques. His trademark visceral caricatures have gained him notoriety throughout the music and gallery worlds for their signature, often-skeletal/always robust visual style. “I love his work and know he gets his inspiration from so many cool sources,” says Katrina. “I’m just thrilled that “Heatwave” sparked that great imagination of his so he can out-do himself again.”
Although most of the visual details will be kept under wraps until the lyric video is officially released, the Pennsylvania-based artist did confirm Katrina’s upcoming single sparked combustible creativity from the get-go. “It’s a catchy song and the lyrics presented a lot of opportunities to me when it came to the theme of ‘overheating,’” laughs SQUINDO. “I warned Katrina that I was putting her in the desert with these ominous looking vultures flying overhead and just like the song, she welcomed me turning the temperature up even more.”
The sultry track is poised as a worthy follow-up to her memorable 2012 album debut, In The Blink Of An Eye, which fired up the Billboard charts with hits such as “Shame On Me” and “So Eden,” among other songs.
The upcoming album, Long Time Coming, features multiple writing/production collaborators, including, among others, Amy Wadge (Ed Sheeran and others), Wendy Starland (Lady Gaga, Moby, Snoop Dogg and others), and New Zealand producer/artist Gladius, who helms the debut single “Heatwave.”
