Picks of the week
Albany Times Union
Harmonica icon John Popper still has plenty of wind left. Popper, who turned 51 in March, is best known for his time with Blues Traveler, which had mega-hits with songs like “Run-Around,” “Hook,” and “But Anyway.” He’s playing those tunes and a bunch of others in his solo show, “The Hits, The Stories, The Experience.” Popper will play and share stories about his three-decade stint with Blues Traveler, his relationship with the H.O.R.D.E Festival, and his connection to The Grateful Dead. Singer-songwriter Katrina Woolverton will open for Popper when he comes to town this week. 8 p.m. Thursday. $39.50. The Egg, Empire State Plaza, Albany. 518-473-1845; theegg.org
